Local man kills 100 deer with bow
Hearn, 80 years old, shot his 100th deer last fall in Evans County

In the predawn hours of a cool October day last Fall, 79-year-old Bill Hearn headed to a 40-acre field he owns south of Daisy and climbed one of his favorite tree stands. The early morning hunt was like countless others he had been on over the years, but the doe Hearn killed that morning, October 6, 2014, marked the 100th deer he had shot with a bow.
Hearn grew up on the family farm in Bellville and worked in the family-owned general store, H.C. Hearn and Company. He attended Bellville Junior High until ninth grade and then transferred to Claxton High School where he graduated with the first 12th grade class in 1952.  “I happened to be lucky enough to get the first 12th grade graduating class,” Hearn said with a laugh.
While he wasn’t thrilled with the extra year of school luck bestowed upon him, Hearn still feels lucky in love. He married his sweetheart, Priscilla, in 1955.
Growing up, Hearn and his siblings often went hunting in their spare time. “When we had time to ourselves we’d go hunting,” he recalled.
