Cassie Beasley, local novelist, has experienced much success with her children's novel, "Circus Mirandus" that published last month. The book has received raving reviews by several notable reviewers, including the New York Times Book Review.
Circus Mirandus was published on June 2 by Dial Books for Young Readers, an imprint of Penguin Random House. Diana Sudyka is the illustrator.
UK company, Chicken House Books, has also published the novel and it's now available in audiobook form as well. Bronson Pinchot (the actor who played Balki Bartokomous in Perfect Strangers) is the audiobook narrator.
"I've sold foreign rights to several other countries, so that's been incredibly exciting. It's wonderful to think of people reading the book all over the world," Beasley said.
"Circus Mirandus" is the number one pick for the Summer 2015 Kids' Indie Next List. It's received starred reviews from "Publisher's Weekly," "Kirkus," and "School Library Journal."
In addition, the book is a Junior Library Guild selection and an Editor's Choice for the "New York Times Book Review."
Reviewers compare "Circus Mirandus" to the magical quality of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and "James and the Giant Peach."
