March has rolled in and here in Evans County that can mean only one thing … the 48th annual Rattlesnake and Wildlife Festival is fast approaching! The Evans County Wildlife Club is busy preparing for an influx of visitors to the area on March 14-15.
ECWC President Terry McCorkle hopes that this year’s festival will draw the biggest crowd to date. To help reach that goal, the club has secured two stars from A&E’s popular show, Duck Dynasty. Mountain Man and Martin will be in Evans County to meet and greet with fans.
In addition to riding in the parade, Mountain Man and Martin will be present at the festival all day Saturday and on Sunday until 2 p.m.  They will be signing autographs on pre-printed 5x7 and 8x10 photos. The 5x7 photo will cost $5 and an 8x10 will be $10.  Any Duck Commander merchandise and books are also acceptable autograph items. (Meet and greet will be done in a receiving line format on the far left side of the festival grounds.)
Maggie Bridges, Miss Georgia 2014, will also be in town for the festival, serving as a judge for the Miss Rattlesnake and Wildlife Festival pageant. Bridges will assist in the crowning of this year’s queen and will also perform on the festival stage at approximately 8:45 p.m. Friday and again on Saturday.
Other activities at the festival include the Georgia Southern University Wildlife Center Birds of Prey flight demonstrations, Georgia DNR hunting and fishing simulators, National Wild Turkey Federation Turkey Calling Contest, wildlife exhibits, snake handling demonstration, live entertainment, arts and crafts vendors, food vendors, and children’s games and activities.
