Chief Kirkland says police calls not limited by day of week, lunar phase

Some years ago law enforcement officers were in general agreement that they received more calls for assistance during a weekend night when the moon was full. That doesn’t seem to be the case now, according to Claxton Police Chief Dale Kirkland.

The Chief met with the Claxton Mayor and Council last week and presented the department’s activity data for the past year. Without there being a noticeable uptick in crime or calls for assistance during a full moon, Kirkland said the number of calls that Claxton Police Department (CPD) receives are about the same for every day of the week or month.
