Commissioners won’t budge on property tax payments collected in error

Two Evans County residents, who paid taxes in error on property they thought belonged to them, were once again denied reimbursement when they again appeared before the Board of Commissioners.

It was at least the fourth time that property brothers Eddie and Craig Hodges asked that the County refund several thousand dollars in taxes they paid on property that they believed was part of inheritance from their late father, Holmes Hodges, and for which they were billed for taxes over two decades.
