One of the community’s most dedicated residents for 46 years, who was celebrated during a reception in her honor at St. Christopher Church in July, died last week in Wisconsin.
A member of the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, Sister Janet Fischer came to Claxton in 1980 where she served in social services and ministry at St. Christopher Church. Following her retirement in 2012, she remained in Evans County while providing volunteer work for her church and the community.
