County due torrential rains as Debby douses area

Editor’s note: Due to limitations in press deadline due to Tropical Storm Debby, the following article goes off of information available as of Monday afternoon, August 5.

As of Monday afternoon, August 5, Evans County faced a Tropical Storm Warning, Flood Warning, Tornado Watch, and Tropical Weather Statement – on top of a Flood Watch that is scheduled to last until Friday morning. Governor Brian Kemp issued a state of emergency for Georgia on Sunday, August 4 with Evans County declaring a local state of emergency on Sunday, closing the Evans County Landfill on Monday.
