Library finds unique way to honor Patriot Day

The public was invited by the library to “lend us a hand” by making a visit to the library on September 5, where participants had one of their hands painted red and then placed their handprint on a large sheet of paper to form the stripes on an American Flag.

The finished project served as a wall backdrop for an event held at the library on September 11 when the library hosted a coffee and doughnuts gathering for first responders, military and veterans in honor and remembrance of September 11 and Patriot Day.

Due to press time of this week’s paper, details and photos of the September 11 event will appear in next week’s edition.

This is the first year for the event.
