Sallie Strickland Hendrix

Sallie Strickland Hendrix, 94, passed away April 30, at her home, under the care of Bethany Hospice.  The Bryan County native lived in Evans County for most of her life.  She was a loving member of Nevils Creek Primitive Baptist Church.  Ms. Sallie was a homemaker that loved taking care of her family, including her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hendrix was preceded in death by her husbands, John Strickland and Edward Hendrix, and by a son, Willie Strickland.
Surviving are one son, Pete Strickland of Claxton; one daughter, Linda (Tommy) Thompson of Scotland Neck, N.C.;  three brothers, Junior (Carolyn) Young of Claxton, Robert (Bobbie) Burnsed of Guyton and Gennis (Rosie) Kerby of Bloomingdale; 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 3, from 10 – 11 a.m., at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 3, at 11 a.m., at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home Chapel with Eld. Jerry Lightsey and Pastor Jason Mallard officiating.
Burial will be in Brewton Cemetery.
