Walter B. Smith, 82, passed away Monday, November 25 at his residence. He was born in Savannah on August 31, 1937 to Hoke and Alice VonBergen Smith and lived in Evans County most of his life. Walter was a U.S. Navy veteran, a mason with the Claxton Lodge #335, a member of the Tattnall County Shrine Club and a member of the Tattnall Invincibles, Camp 154, Sons of Confederate Veterans. He was retired from Rotary Corporation after 42 years of service and a member of Trinity Church of the Nazarene. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn G. Smith of Bellville; children, Karen Blocker (Bobby) of Glennville, Connie Barnett (Scott) of Bellville, Randy Smith (Pam) of Bellville; brothers, Jerry Smith (Shirley) of Bellville, William Smith (Shirley) of Bellville; grandchildren, Brian Blocker (Kirstie), Justin Smith (Alison), Byron Barnett (Deidre), Nathan Smith, Melissa Lee (Stanton), Rebekah Langreck (Paul), Aimee Wasson (Michael);12 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, November 29, at the chapel of Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home. Burial was in the Simon Smith Cemetery. Pallbearers were Brian Blocker, Justin Smith, Byron Barnett, Nathan Smith, Stanton Lee and Paul Langreck. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to: Evans County CARES, P.O.
